HathiTrust and Access to Digital Materials

by Steve Wilson on 2020-08-12T12:10:16-04:00 | 0 Comments

USC has partnered with a collaborative of academic and research libraries called HathiTrust to offer digitized versions of many of our print materials during this time of national emergency. This affects access to many items in our “Find It @UofSC Libraries” system.

You may notice some materials in “Find It” labeled “physical use temporarily prohibited” even when the physical materials are available on our shelves. Those materials are available digitally through the HathiTrust system. Meanwhile, the print version is not available for use because, in accordance with copyright restrictions, only one copy can be used at any given time.

How to get to the full text:

When you encounter an item that says “physical use temporarily prohibited,” you would click on the “Full Text Available at HathiTrust” link.

You will be prompted to log in with your USC Network Username/password if not already logged in. You will then be taken to the full text of the book.
