Social determinants of health: The social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels. The social determinants of health are mostly responsible for health inequities - the unfair and avoidable differences in health status seen within and between countries. (World Health Organization)
Health equity: Health equity means efforts to ensure that all people have full and equal access to opportunities that enable them to lead healthy lives. (CDC Healthy People 2020)
Cultural humility: the ability to maintain an interpersonal stance that is other-oriented (or open to the other) in relation to aspects of cultural identity that are most important to the person.
Implicit bias: the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner.
