The Transition Alliance of South Carolina (TASC) is spearheaded by the Center for Disability Resources (CDR) at the University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine.
Project staff provide support to local communities in building capacity to support improved outcomes for youth with disabilities who are transitioning from school to adult life. Current initiatives include the following:
•Support, to local school districts identified for technical assistance through OSES’s System of Tiered Assistance (SoTA), to improve graduation and dropout rates for youth with disabilities.
•Support, to families and youth in improving transition outcomes, through Family Connection of South Carolina’s Youth in Transition initiative.
•Support, to South Carolina communities in improving employment outcomes, through the META training initiative funded by the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council. This work provides online Discovery, Assessment, & Career Planning training for practitioners working with individuals with disabilities to secure and maintain employment in South Carolina.
•Statewide support to local communities in the development and maintenance of local Project SEARCH sites.
TASC’s work is funded by multiple entities, including the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Services (OSES), the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council, and Family Connection of South Carolina.
