You can use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, which is called ILL Express!, to request FREE copies of full text articles that are unavailable via the School of Medicine Library.
During this module, we will take a look at how to:
1. From the library's homepage, select the black Interlibrary Loan box.
2. Next, select the gray ILL Express! Log In box.
3. Next, select Medical School Columbia from the Select Campus drop-down menu and click Submit.
4. Next, select Students, Faculty and Staff.
5. Log in using your USC network username and password.
6. The first time you log in, you may need to complete a registration form.
1. After you log in to ILL Express!, you can select the Article link in the New Request box.
2. Fill out the Article Request form and click Submit Request.
3. You will receive an email when your article is available. After you login to ILL Express! you can select Electronically Received Articles to view and download your article.
1. If you are trying to access a full text article, you may encounter a yellow box that prompts you to "Please sign in to check if there are any request options." This means that we do not have electronic access to the article, but you can place an interlibrary loan request for the article.
To place an interlibrary loan request, select Sign in.
2. Next, select USC Faculty, Students and Staff.
3. Now select Students, Faculty and Staff.
4. Log in using your USC network username and password.
5. After you log in, select Request through interlibrary loan.
6. Next, select Medical School Columbia from the Select Campus drop-down menu and click Submit.
7. The Article Request form appears. The system automatically enters the citation information. Select Submit request at the bottom of the screen to submit the interlibrary loan request.
