Stay Current with Library Resources

Keeping up with the latest in your field can be a challenge, but the Library is here to help! Many of our databases and journals offer email alerts to help you stay up-to-date with the  literature. After you create an email alert, you will receive an email notification when a new issue of a journal is available or a journal article is published that meets your search criteria.

Here are the types of alerts you can set up:

  • Search alert - A database will automatically run your saved search and deliver the latest results to your email.
  • Journal issue or Table of contents (TOC) alert - Delivers the latest TOC of a journal to your inbox.
  • Citation alert - Get an email notification when an article you've saved is cited by a new publication.

Our Current Awareness Tools webpage provides details on how to create alerts in various databases like PubMed and Web of Science. You'll also find information about another tool for staying current: podcasts. Many journals and databases produce podcasts that offer concise summaries of new research, allowing you to easily absorb key information on the go.

You can also receive email alerts about SOM Library resources and services by subscribing to our Library blog. Just visit our blog, find the "Subscribe" section on the right sidebar, and enter your email address.
