Physician Assistant Program: Evidence-Based Practice

This guide will help you locate and use physician assistant information resources from the School of Medicine Library, the USC University Libraries, and beyond.

Remote Access

You can access the Library's electronic resources from anywhere!

When prompted to login, you must use your USC network username and password (not your School of Medicine network credentials).

To lookup your USC Network Credentials (i.e. Blackboard, Main Campus email, etc), go to Manage User Account. There you'll find options to claim your account, or reset password, etc.

Finding Practice Guidelines in PubMed

After running your search in PubMed, you can apply the Practice Guideline filter to your search results.

There are some Article Types filters on the left side of your PubMed search results screen. Practice Guidelines are not an option by default, so you need to add Practice Guidelines.

1. Select the Additional Filters button.

2. Select the checkbox for Practice Guidelines, the click the Show button.

3. Practice Guidelines now appears as an option under Article Types. Select Practice Guidelines to apply it to your search results.

While browsing the results, you may want to switch the Sort by setting to Most recent (instead of Best match).
