USC SOM faculty and staff have a long history of serving the community of Columbia, SC and beyond. We are developing the infrastructure to support longitudinal curricular activities related to community health and relationship development with the community. To that end, USC SOM launched PRISM in 2022, a learning collaborative that supports experiential learning in social determinants of health and builds relationships with key community partners. In 2023, the student group Community Outreach group (COG) took on the challenge under PRISM to develop a corps of students and faculty engaged in community outreach events.
In February 2024, we held our first event with the Drew Wellness Center in February, and three more events are planned this semester.
