This session will provide an overview of essential PubMed skills, including accessing full text, applying filters, managing your search results, and creating search alerts.

This session will cover a variety of methods you can use to focus your PubMed results and reduce the number of irrelevant citations you have to scroll through. We’ll look at how to use the MeSH database, the advanced search builder, and field tags.

Embase Essentials
Embase is a biomedical literature database with strong coverage of drug and medical devices. It can also be a useful complement to your PubMed searches. This session will cover the basic features of Embase, including running a quick search, using the PICO search form, applying limits, managing your search results, and creating search alerts.

Running into dead ends while trying to access full text articles? This session will cover tips for accessing full text articles efficiently via FindIt@USC, PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Library’s E-Journals search.

Introduction to EndNote Online
This session will cover the basic features of EndNote Online, including adding citations to your EndNote Online library, importing citations from PubMed, and inserting references into Word.
All USC School of Medicine faculty, staff, and students have free access to EndNote Online through the Library's Web of Science subscription.
NOTE: This session does not cover EndNote Desktop software.
