MLA Citation Style Guide: One Author

This guide contains examples of common citation formats in MLA (Modern Language Association) Style

Book with One Author (p.148-153)

The general format below refers to a book with one author.
 
If you are dealing with one editor instead of one author,  insert the editor's name in the place where the author's name is now, followed by a comma and the word "ed." without the quotation marks. The rest of the format remains the same.
 
General Format
 
   Parenthetical Citation: 
   (Author Surname page number)
 
   Works Cited:
   Author Surname, First Name. Book Title: Subtitle. Place of Publication: Publisher,
      
        Year. Medium.

   Works Cited:
